This document outlines
how to access and use the InfieldOnline service. Unless otherwise
stated your subscription permits you to use InfieldOnline
from a single site, with up to three users at any one time.
InfieldOnline is a more intuitive interrogation system for
your data. It allows you to save queries to your own individual
workspace and you can download your entire data file from
the Client Centre.
IMPORTANT:- TO
USE INFIELDONLINE SUCCESSFULLY WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE THE
LATEST VERSION MICROSOFT
INTERNET EXPLORER.
Once you have logged
on, there are additional help files available to you.
Unless you have
subscribed to the complete Infield Worldwide Offshore Energy
Database, there is a vast quantity of information which is
available now. Infield covers all of the world's existing
and future offshore field developments from the first true
offshore development in the 1940's through to projects which
are not expected to be developed for another 20 years. For
more information about Infield, please visit www.infield.com.
1.
Accessing InfieldOnline
Simply logon to
www.infieldonline.com using the user name and passwords sent
to your registered e-mail address. If you are having problems
gaining access then copy and paste the codes directly into
your web browser.
Once you have logged
on you will be presented with a switchboard with all of the
data set icons. You will only have access to those datasets
that you have subscribed to. If you click on one of the icons
that you do not have access to, then you will get a default
screen denying you access. If you get a default screen for
one of your subscribed data sets, please contact technical
support Email: Infield or contact +44 (0)20 7426 9661 (Out
of UK Office hours this will be transferred to the Duty Manager).
IMPORTANT:- If
you are accessing the internet through a network you may have
to consult your network administrator to allow the accessing
of ".asp" pages.
There is a default
time limit for sessions to use your database if you need the
sessions extended please contact Infield.
2.
Searching
Each of the files
can be searched using singular or multiple criteria as required.
Search criteria are entered or selected before the search
button is pressed.
When looking at
individual record sheets the buttons at the bottom of the
sheet will run a search for all records related to that single
record sheet in the file named on the button, assuming this
data falls within the limits of your Subscription. For example,
clicking on the operator button when looking at a single platform,
field, pipeline or umbilical file will run a search for the
operator of that project
3.
Setting up search criteria:
Each of the search
files has different types of tools for selecting search criteria.
Scrollable boxes
allow you to select the parameters for each of the criteria
before searching the database. The menu range shown is drawn
directly from your dataset.
For multiple selections
within each criterion Windows users should hold down the 'Ctrl'
key. Thus for example to select a parameter for a search for
projects in the countries UK and Norway only, users should
first click on UK and then on Norway while holding down the
'Ctrl' key, before clicking on the 'Search Database' button
at the bottom. Of course other parameters can be set in other
menu items before searching the database to further refine
searches.
Please note that
if no data appears within the scrollable boxes this indicates
that your subscription does not include this data. The all
default indicates that all the data from YOUR data set will
be included in a search.
Empty Boxes allow
for the entry of specific text strings. In this case the small
help buttons next to the box will show the types of data available.
The options shown are those available from the complete database
and thus some or all may fall outside the scope of your subscription.
Ranges allows for
searches for specific or ranges of lengths, weights and dates
to be carried out. The range shown is that available from
the complete database and thus some or all may fall outside
the scope of your subscription.
4.
Search Results
Searches of the
database will launch a new screen indicating how many records
fit the parameters selected, along with up to ten records
from this subset listed to show their ID (an Infield Database
identification code), Name, Water Depth and Date on Stream.
Returned searches are split into 'pages' of ten records each
which can be navigated between using the buttons at the top
of the table. To view all the data held on each of the records
simply click on its ID number in the left column.
Note Returning
back to the search page does not delete the query parameters
already set
The reset button must be used to run a different query.
5.
Saving and Rerunning Searches
Each user is provided
with their own workspace allowing the sets of criteria used
to search the database to be named and saved in a private
folder. To save searches enter the name you wish to use in
the appropriate box at the bottom of the search screen. Searches
will automatically have the name of the file added to the
name of the search.
Note Searches can
be run to evaluate the results and then saved by returning
back to the search screen and adding a search name before
saving the criteria.
To rerun or delete
saved searches press the button marked past searches this
will open a screen listing previously saved searches.
6.
Downloading Search Results
It is possible
to download the search results in CSV format for use offline.
At the top of the
results page the "export results" button allows
you to download the results of your search. When pressed the
results will fill the screen within your browser window. Each
of the data fields on this screen will be separated by ","
.
Once the data has
finished writing to the screen it can be imported into a spreadsheet
program such as MS Excel. Perhaps the easiest is to save the
screen to your computer as a text file using the 'save as'
command available under the 'file' button on the browser tool
bar. Having selected this option open the saved file from
within Excel and "parse" the data noting that column
headings are used and that the data is delimited by commas.
7.
